Mugambi spent her first ten years in Kenya, before migrating to Australia
where she completed a Bachelor of Science in 1994 (Biochemistry) at Sydney University.
A dramatic career change led her to complete a Bachelor of Theatre in both Sydney and Johannesburg (1998).
Mugambi then moved to Amsterdam where studied at Mime School Amsterdam from 2000-2002.
She held residency at Danswerkplaats Amsterdam (DWA) created several works with Adva Zakai
as well as her solo performance, the wood for the trees, which she showed at Springdance Festival in 2005.
In 2006 she began her Masters in Performance at Dasarts Amsterdam, while maintaining her role as
vocalist with Rosa Ensemble.
She has performed for Rodrigo Pardo (ROOF, 2008) and Belarus Free Theatre (Eurepica, 2009)
as well as for Cecila Vallejos, Sarah van Lamsweerde, Sarah Manya, Marloeke van der Vlugt and others.
Her video piece Kenya No Borders Online was shown at KVS, Brussels and Amakula Film Festival, Uganda.
In 2009 she traveled to Kenya with Alex Fischer to collect film material for her graduating piece Hybrid Eyes
which premiered in Rozentheater Amsterdam in October 2009.
This was also performed at Theater Zeebelt, Den Haag in November 2009, Kaaistudios, Brussels in March 2010
and as part of TheaterFormen Festival, Braunschweig in June 2010.
In September 2010 she toured Holland with a Het Zuidelijk Toneel production, Nannies Only.
In October/November she performed in Eurepica, a Belarus Free Theater production on tour in Sweden/Italy. 
Mugambi is currently working on the Opera Spanga/Rosa Ensemble production of Falstaff rivisto
where she will play the part of Nannetta.
